The team at AFC Urgent Care Hixson wants you to make every day count by working toward better health. The following are tips that can help you improve your health, starting today.
A Little Bit Goes a Long, Healthy Way!
You don’t have to spend hours upon hours in the gym or counting calories in order to find optimal health. In fact, some small changes here and there can bring your health to a whole new level, and they don’t require much effort at all!
One of the simple habits you can adopt that can make a world of difference in your health—drinking water. Did you know that our bodies are made up of 90 percent water? But our bodies are also continually losing water.
As a result, you need to drink water throughout the day to help replenish your fluid levels. The amount of water you need to drink each day varies from person to person. To determine whether you’re getting enough fluids, take a peek at the color of your urine. If it’s pale yellow or clear, you’re well-hydrated. If it’s darker, you need to drink more water.
Second, make it a point to get up and moving. Have you been sitting at your desk for a couple hours already today? Get up and take a walk around the building to help get your heart pumping and blood flowing. Even just a brisk walk, especially outside, can help improve breathing and make sure our muscles are functioning properly. Plus, the “brain break” can help increase your productivity at work.
Third, grab a snack between meals. Yes, you heard us right! Before you start worrying about weight gain, let us say: If you snack properly, it can boost rather than hinder your health. You just need to make sure you are snacking the right way, by grabbing healthy snacks like fresh fruit or veggies, almonds, or air-popped popcorn. Snacking between meals can help fight off a cranky mood while also helping keep your blood sugar levels balanced throughout the day.
